About Us

Hello & Welcome to Deafroot
I’m Sheri Youens-Un, a Deaf artist & the founder of Deafroot, a Deaf and woman-owned small business celebrating American Sign Language and Deaf culture through handcrafted wood art.
Rooted in a love for ASL, Deafroot began as a personal creative outlet and grew into a meaningful way to turn language into art. Each piece I make honors connection, identity, and authenticity through designs that reflect real ASL expression.
After years of teaching and designing, I wanted to create a space that truly represents our community and language with pride. Deafroot became that space—a workshop where wood and language meet to tell stories that speak without sound.
Every design I create is shaped by the people and stories that surround me. My art reflects the language I use, the culture I belong to, and the pride I carry as a Deaf artist.
Thank you for visiting and supporting Deaf artistry. Your encouragement helps keep our culture alive...one handcrafted piece at a time.
